Location
Our visitor mine is located in the Vogtland, a historically connected region. It consists mainly of parts of Saxony and Thuringia and extends in the south to Bavaria and Bohemia (Czech Republic).
The mine area belongs to the village of Rotschau and is located south of the city of Reichenbach in the local area of Muehlwand.

Arrive by bus and train
By train
1. With line RE 3 (Dresden - Chemnitz - Hof) of the Mitteldeutschen Regiobahn ⇒
Get off in Reichenach ob. Bhf., then continue by bus.

Get off in Reichenbach oder Limbach, then about 3 km walk/bike path.

By bus
1. Take city bus line 82 (Neumark - Reichenbach - Rotschau),
get off at the final stop (Talstraße) in Rotschau, then walk 2 km along the road to Mühlwand or approximately 1.5 km along a field path with a great view of the Goeltzschtal Viaduct. Timetable ⇒ Bus Line 82 (PDF) ⇒
2.Take PlusBus line 10 (Reichenbach - Lengenfeld - Rodewisch - Auerbach). Get off in Schneidenbach (Forsthaus junction), then walk 1.5 km upstream along the road or hiking trail. Timetable ⇒ Bus Line 10 (PDF) ⇒
3. Take the regular bus line 83 (Treuen - Mylau - Reichenbach),
get off in Buchwald, Lauschgrün, or Mylau, then walk 2 to 3 km, using the scenic hiking trails. Timetable ⇒ Bus Line 83 (PDF) ⇒
Arrive by a car
It is only a few kilometers from the A 72, exit Reichenbach or Treuen. Give attention to the tourist information signs 'Alaunwerk'. You can use the Google route planner for a detailed route plan by clicking on 'Größere Karte ...'. You can also select the English language there.
